Terms of Use

1. Not Financial Advice

DebtRiot is for information and education only.
We provide calculators that show “if X, then Y” based on numbers you enter. We don’t provide financial, legal, or tax advice and we are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

You’re responsible for your own decisions. If you’re struggling to cover essentials or minimum payments, free and confidential help is available from StepChange or National Debtline.

2. How You Can Use DebtRiot

You may use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes.

Please don’t:

• use it unlawfully or to harm others

• try to access parts of the Service you shouldn’t

• use automated tools to scrape, copy, or interfere with the Service

• resell or redistribute our tools without permission

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.

3. Intellectual Property

All content on debtriot.co.uk - including text, design, branding, and code - is owned by DebtRiot or our licensors.

You may:

• view the site in your browser

• print or save your own PDF/CSV plan for personal use

You may not:

• copy, republish, or redistribute our content

• create derivative works or copy our tools

• use our branding without permission

4. Availability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We don’t guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

We may change or remove features without notice. We’re not responsible for loss caused by unavailability or changes, except where law doesn’t allow such exclusions.

5. Limitation of Liability

Our calculators provide estimates based on what you enter. We don’t promise results are complete or perfectly suited to your situation.

To the extent permitted by law:

• we’re not liable for indirect or consequential loss

• we’re not liable for decisions made based on the results

• we’re not liable for loss of profits or savings

Nothing limits liability for fraud or anything that can’t legally be excluded.

6. Payments & Your PDF Plan

We sell a personalised Debt Payoff Plan (PDF) generated from figures you enter.

• Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We never see your card number.

• After payment, you’re redirected to generate and download your PDF plan. Keep the browser tab open until the file saves.

• Your purchase includes a Recovery Code, which can unlock premium access again in the future after payment verification.

• You can update your numbers and re-generate an updated plan.

• To prevent abuse and keep the service reliable, fair-use limits apply (for example: a cap on very high-volume PDF generation and a limit on the number of devices per purchase).

• If available, CSV schedule downloads are provided for personal tracking.

7. DebtRiot for Coaches

DebtRiot for Coaches (coaches.debtriot.co.uk) is a subscription-based tool for professional use by debt coaches, money coaches, and financial wellbeing practitioners. By subscribing you agree to the following additional terms.

Subscription and billing. Plans are billed monthly or annually via Stripe. All plans include a 7-day free trial with card details collected upfront. Your card is charged automatically at the end of the trial and on each renewal date thereafter. You can cancel, upgrade, or downgrade at any time via the Manage Subscription link in your dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds are issued for unused time.

Recovery Code. Your coaching account is accessed via a unique Recovery Code issued at checkout. This code replaces a traditional username and password. You are responsible for keeping it safe. If you lose your Recovery Code, email hello@debtriot.co.uk and we will help you recover access via your Stripe billing email. Do not share your Recovery Code with anyone outside your practice.

Device limits and plan limits. Each tier includes limits on the number of devices and plans saved per month. These are enforced to prevent abuse and ensure service reliability. Limits are shown on the pricing page and in your dashboard. Exceeding limits may restrict functionality until the next billing cycle.

Client data stays in the browser. Financial information entered by coaches about their clients (debts, balances, payments, budgets) is processed and stored locally in the coach's browser using localStorage. DebtRiot does not receive, transmit, or store this data on its servers. If you clear your browser data or switch devices, locally stored plans are lost. Use the JSON export feature to back up plans.

Coach responsibilities. You are responsible for your own professional and regulatory obligations when using DebtRiot for Coaches with your clients. DebtRiot does not provide financial advice and the tool does not make you an FCA-regulated adviser. You must ensure your use of the tool complies with any professional standards, codes of conduct, or regulatory requirements that apply to your practice. You are responsible for obtaining any necessary consent from your clients before entering their information into the tool.

Acceptable use. DebtRiot for Coaches is licensed for use by the subscribing coach or practice only. You may not sublicense, resell, or white-label the tool. You may share exported PDFs and CSV files with your own clients as part of your coaching service.

Service changes. We may add, change, or remove features at any time. We will endeavour to give reasonable notice of significant changes via the dashboard or by email where possible.

8. Refunds

Digital content: By purchasing DebtRiot, you request immediate supply of digital content (your personalised PDF plan). By completing checkout, you provide express consent to immediate supply and acknowledge that the 14-day right to cancel may not apply once the PDF is delivered. This does not affect your rights if the digital content is faulty or not as described.

If something’s wrong:

• File corrupted or won’t open? Email hello@debtriot.co.uk - we’ll fix it or refund you.

• Can’t download? We’ll help you re-generate at no extra cost (within fair use).

• Unauthorised payment? Contact us and your card issuer immediately.

9. Third-Party Links

Links to other sites (like debt charities or Stripe) are provided for convenience. We’re not responsible for their content or practices.

10. Privacy

How we handle your information is explained in our Privacy Policy.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be subject to the courts of England and Wales, except where consumers may bring claims in their local courts as required by law.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms. Changes are effective when posted. Continued use means you accept the updated Terms.
